| How We Do It - Our Quality Control Process |
|
 |
 |
A Professional Team:
To ensure the highest quality possible, our translation process relies on a team of
professionals who work on every job: a Translator, an Editor and a Proofreader. For each individual project,
we select a specific team of professionals taking into account the subject matter and the target audience.
For larger projects we develop glossaries and style guides to ensure consistency in the use of specific
terminology.
 |
|
Technological Support:
It is undisputable that technology cannot replace the human process of translation in
terms of quality and that software tools are unable to understand the subtleties of context and interpretation.
Nevertheless, the use of translation tools and memory technology is useful in leveraging repeated text and
ensuring consistency throughout the translation. We take advantage of these technologies to keep costs down
and to make sure that the translations are accurate and consistent within a given project and from one project
to the next.
 |
|
Project and File Analysis:
We analyze the project’s files for final word count totals, specific terminology and
special localization needs, such as the adjustment of dates, time, weights, measures, etc. Next, we check
for file complexity and determine weather the text is going to be translated in the original source format
or if it needs to be extracted.
As a result of this analysis we can confirm the price quotation and set the final delivery schedule. At
this stage it is important that we receive the client’s final approval before we actually begin the
translation process.
 |
|
Translation - Editing - Proofreading:
The files are then ready for translation. Once the Translators finalize the work, the
style Editor carefully reviews and polishes it to make sure that the resulting text reads as if it had been
originally written in the target language. The Editor also ensures that the linguistic style of the original
text is accurately reflected. Since large projects can involve more than one Translator, the editing phase
makes sure that the different writing styles are meshed into a single flowing text.
The final stage of the translation process is Proofreading. At this point, the Proofreader gives a final
scrutiny to the linguistic and grammatical aspects of the translated and edited text and assesses the
overall flow of the work.

|
Work-in-Progress Review:
On large and more complex projects we sometimes choose to present our clients with a
sample portion of the translation. We send a representative sample of text, which has gone through the
three stages of the process, to give the client the opportunity to examine it and to determine weather or
not it complies with their internal linguistic standards or needs.
 |
|
File Formatting and Localization:
Once the entire text has gone through the complete translation process, files are then
reintegrated into their original format, if necessary, and the final localized product is created. At this
point the layout, graphics, localization aspects or the files are put in place as specified in the project
and file analysis phase.
 |
|
Linguistic and Technical Testing:
At this stage we give the complete project a final check to ensure the translated
text is error free and we carry out all the technical tests. These tests depend on the project’s scope, but
typical web site testing includes checking of links, graphics, layouts, tags and all other interactive and
functional elements.
 |
|
Delivery and Approval:
We send the complete localized product to the client for review and approval. Delivery
methods vary upon client specifications. Smaller projects are sent via e-mail while larger projects are sent
via FTP or in a CD-ROM.
Clients have a designated amount of time to perform an internal linguistic and technical review, which varies
depending on the length and complexity of the project. During this period we will perform all linguistic and
technical adjustments deemed necessary by the client as long as they fit within the original scope of the
project. Our goal is to provide total customer satisfaction.
